For the past years, my weight has been yo-yo-ing. I have been exercising on and off with no regular routine. A year ago, after a month long vacation where I really gained pounds, I came to a point where I decided to be focused on my goal –be healthy! This means I had to junk my sedentary lifestyle, to be active, and to eat well.
Coincidentally, or probably by mere fate, one of the Fitness Instructors of Fitness First Megamall, JV Pickrell approached me and offered to give me a free trial workout. Frankly, ever since I joined the club in 2003, getting a personal trainer never entered my mind. I had second thoughts at first but gladly obliged since I thought that “it would not hurt to try”. With the trial workout, I noticed the difference between working out by myself and having a personal trainer guide me. After that trial, I discussed with him my fitness goal and the target areas that I would like to concentrate on, after which I signed up with him. Slowly but surely as they say, we were moving towards my goal. In just about a month, I noticed I started losing weight and was developing my strength, endurance and flexibility. We kept track of my progress and varied our routines. JV, being a blackbelter in karate-do, started me in karate-do and then kickboxing. I also started attending Group Exercise classes such as Pilates, Yoga, Body Jam, Body Vive and Body Combat. I attained my goal in less than 6 months and we've reset my goal to toning and maintenance.
The change in me is not just physical, I can feel the change as well. Now, I am able to do things that I never thought I could do. I am proud of my accomplishments because it's a product of my blood, sweat and tears. It really takes a lot of commitment, dedication, effort and PATIENCE. I am also thankful to JV for the challenge and creative motivations he has given to me.
