Fitness First Internship Program

  01 Sep 2017

Staying true to its brand purpose to become Asia’s trusted fitness leader and guided by one of its core values, “WE CARE”, Fitness First Philippines launched its Internship Program in September 2017 to aspiring students who wanted to gain valuable hands-on industry experience.

The three-month program envisions to teach this young breed of fitness and sports enthusiasts the emerging trends in the industry and open employment opportunities with the biggest health and wellness organization in Asia. Led by Fitness First Fitness Training Manager, Chyme Piedad and Master Trainer Albert Abaca, the interns were assigned in selected Fitness First clubs and were exposed to an intensive training alongside the best fitness coaches to prepare them to enter the workforce.

“This program is our way to pay it forward to the future leaders of the industry and society,” said Eric Seegers, Head of Fitness, Fitness First. “We will tap different schools and organizations to be part of this program, and we stay committed to inspire these students to go further in their lives,” he continued.

The program was first offered to the Nutrition and Dietetics Department of Philippine Women’s University and UST Sports and Wellness Management students, and has successfully trained twenty one interns, five of which were later on hired as full time employees.

Aside from the College Internship Program, Fitness First also forged a partnership with Vito Belarmino Senior High School for the K to 12 Program. The Senior High program aims to provide students with the closest experience to employment, equip them with skills, and encourage them to pursue tertiary education in the course of Health and Fitness. The program, which runs for three semesters, will provide students a better understanding of fitness and club operations.

These ongoing programs signify Fitness First’s passion in changing lives through health and fitness, and its commitment to play a part in developing future fitness professionals.
